Memphis is Home of the Blues and Birthplace of Rock & Roll, and Beale Street hosts over 20 live music venues for more than four million visitors a year. Whether it’s the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge in January (the world’s largest gathering of blues bands), the Blues Music Awards in May, or Road to the Biscuit in October, it’s a year-round Blues Party!

October 4-7, 2017
One of the nation’s foremost showcases of blues music, tens of thousands of blues enthusiasts converge on historic downtown Helena, Arkansas, to hear stirring performances of an American art form on the banks of the Mississippi River. Founded in 1986, the first festival was a one-day event, with a small gathering of local residents and a flatbed truck as a stage. Since then, the festival has grown to a four-day event, with a Main Stage and three other stages and several activities, such as the Flour Power Run, the Blues in Schools program, and the Blues Symposium.

This series of blues events that takes place over several consecutive weeks in late September and early October aims to maximize the opportunities for visitors to discover the richness of the blues tradition in the region and serves as an umbrella organization to promote a wide variety of blues-related activities. There is no official BTB itinerary; instead, we aim to include all blues activities taking place in the tri-state region, most notably the internationally renowned King Biscuit Blues Festival and the Mighty Mississippi Music Festival, which incorporates the respected Highway 61 Blues Festival. In addition to these festivals a multitude of events will take place at venues including blues museums, juke joints, casinos, and town squares.

The King Biscuit Blues Festival has partnered with Historic Beale Street in Memphis to create a unique Blues event for fans on the ROAD TO THE BISCUIT. This collaborative event on Thursday, October 5, 2017, is a pairing of local Memphis Blues artists with some who will be appearing at the King Biscuit Blues Festival. Our goal is to create a unique Blues Festival AND to help showcase Bridging the Blues, which starts with the Mighty Mississippi Blues Fest in Greenville  starting September 29th, Road to the Biscuit in Memphis on Beale Street on Thursday October 5th, and the King Biscuit Blues Festival October 4th to October 7th, 2017.
